Membership in the MTP working group of the VDMA
The networking of the various systems — including the various propulsion systems — on the ship and the networking between ship and port represents a considerable challenge both for the commissioning and for the operation of the ship.
In order to generate customer benefits for suppliers, shipyards, ship owners and operators of ships, various companies are working together in a VDMA working group to create common standards for the collection, display and transfer of data as well as standards for interfaces for system-independent data evaluation and communication. These standards are summarized under the keyword MTP (Module Type Package).
Dr. E. Horn has been a member of this working group since January 2020. Our contribution consists in the collection and transfer of safety-relevant data directly at the engine to the higher-level systems. Our products already largely meet the MTP standards.
