Smart sensor technology – decentralised intelligence on the engine
With our sensors we measure the relevant parameters to ensure the safety of engines. We either sell these individually or combine them in our monitoring systems to create individual customer solutions.
With our sensors we are directly at the engine. The "Horn-Box" transmits the relevant data to superordinate systems in a standardised way. This is our contribution to manufacturer-independent ship motorisation.
We have thus implemented the requirements of the MTP (Modular Type Package) on the engine. In summary, with the help of MTP it will no longer be a question in future of how a function is implemented in detail in terms of automation technology, but only of whether it is available at all and functions reliably. This approach significantly reduces the complexity of ship automation.
On the basis of an IP-capable network, the standard OPC UA is used as a uniform interface for cross-machine information access. The parameters relevant for monitoring an engine are integrated into the condition monitoring system. We are able to design these customer parameters in a consensual manner using our sensor technology.

The Horn sensor program is based on decades of experience in the field of large machines and demanding measurement tasks. In addition, most of our products are approved for use on seagoing vessels by maritime classes, thus addressing both maritime and industrial original equipment manufacturers and the retrofit market (RetroFit).
