The company Dr. E. Horn developed very early on an optical engine com­part­ment mon­i­tor­ing system for the detection of oil mist for 4-stroke diesel engines. Together with other sensors it forms a safety system on large 4-stroke com­bus­tion engines. The optical turbidity measurement is realized in many applications and is based on sensors of the FRG series.
